Yesterday I had a conversation with someone about sleep. They were under the impression that sleep was a waste of time. I used to think that too, until I was made wise to the fact that sleep is one of the most productive things you can do with your time.
Why would someone thing that sleep is a waste of time? I can tell you why I used to think that - it’s because I was inefficient. I didn’t know how to use my awake time properly, and so I always needed more of it.
The more time I had, the more I could work. That was my mantra. But now, I understand that the more sleep I get the better I can utilize the time I have. I can be (at least) twice as productive with half the amount of time.
When I have enough sleep, I actually feel like working. I feel like doing the right thing. I feel like focusing. When I don’t get enough sleep, I don’t feel like doing anything and I only feel like complaining about how I feel.
So, if you want to be productive, get your sleep.
You want to know what is a waste of time? Staying at a dead-end job, not prioritizing your time, keeping negative friends, consuming more than you create, not planning for the future, staying the same person and not growing.
